Leaving Singapore we took about a 4
hour bus ride into Malaysia to Melaka. We ended up staying in China
Town, which is very close to Little India and the main city center.
We woke up the next day and walked along the water to St. Pauls
Church and Porta De Santiago and around the rest of the city. At
night we went out to the Jonkers Walk Night Market, walked around a
bit and tried fish balls and spring rolls while walking through.
After that, we went to a well known
satay place where we waited outside in line for almost 45 minutes.
While there you pick the skewers that you want, and then you sit at a
round table with a steaming bowl in the middle, mixed with different
sauces and you cook the skewers that you've chosen.
We got pork, fish balls, dumplings,
chili pepper with fish, tofu, greens and we even dared ourselves to
try pig skin skewers... not my cup of tea. The restaurant was quite
the experience and we are happy that we waited in line to try it out.
I think we gradually are getting used
to the intense heat. By mid afternoon we are pretty exhausted, just
because the heat is so extreme and the humidity is insane. Even the
locals here say to us, “hot isn't it?”
